Fernleaf Bamboo

$40.68

LATIN NAME: Bambusa multiplex 'Fernleaf'

The Basics

Fernleaf Bamboo is a graceful, compact clumping bamboo known for its dense growth and delicate, fern-like foliage. Its slender green canes and abundance of small leaves create a soft, lush appearance that works beautifully as a privacy screen, hedge, landscape accent, or tropical backdrop.

Unlike running bamboo varieties, Fernleaf Bamboo grows in a clumping habit, making it much easier to maintain and control in the landscape. Its naturally dense growth also responds well to pruning, allowing it to be maintained as a shorter formal hedge or allowed to grow taller for additional privacy.

The Needs

Amount of Sunlight: Prefers full sun to partial shade.

Amount of Water: Water regularly while becoming established. Once established, provide supplemental water during extended periods of hot or dry weather.

Soil Conditions: Prefers fertile, moist, well-drained soil but adapts to a variety of soil types.

Cold Hardiness Zone: 8–11

The Care

Fernleaf Bamboo is relatively low maintenance once established. Regular watering during its establishment period encourages a healthy root system and vigorous growth. Applying mulch around the base helps retain soil moisture, regulate temperature, and protect the roots.
